In the 1930’s Middletown and Fall Creek Township had Riley’s Park. It was located on the West Side of 8th Street just south of the current bridge and water treatment plant.
Charles Riley developed a picnic area, a baseball diamond, and a swimming pool. During the summer months this became a favorite area for town and township people to gather. Groups could have picnics, play or watch a baseball game, site in the bleachers, watch swimmers and divers in the pool area and participate in great summer fun.
After several years the pool area deteriorated substantially and was eventually closed to the public and filled in with the bricks and debris from the old Central School that was torn down.
